Computer 'drawings' we made in Japan, 1991-1992. As we witnessed the world's first eBooks and first High-Definition television sets, we reacted by making holograms of books, but we also made our first computer drawings--of books--all the while questioning the future of the book and the cultures it has spawned.
This work represents a pivotal moment in our practice, where we began exploring the intersection of traditional media (the book) and emerging digital technologies. The holograms we created during this period in Japan question what happens to physical objects and their cultural significance as they transition into digital forms.
